I’m starting a new thing where every week, I post a quick review of a webcomic I enjoy reading. I’m going to give you a quick breakdown of what the strip is about, what I like about it, and why you should be reading it. I Will not post any webcomics I don’t like; it’s a waste of my time and a waste of yours.

Comic’s name: Megatokyo
Creators: Fred Gallagher
URL: www.megatokyo.com
What is the comic about: Two Video game geeks from America get stranded in Japan with not enough money to get back home. Hijinks ensue.
How is comic drawn: Artwork is done in highly detailed pencils, manga-style
How often updated: three times a week (usually)
What else does the website offer: merchandise, and two blogs by Fred and his assistant Dom
What do I think of the site’s overall design: Very clean and to the point. A little stylish, but everything flows together. The site design and the anime-styled art (especially the color art) work well together. The site is also very easy to navigate.
What do I like about the strip: This was actually the comic strip that first turned me on to webcomics as a whole. I saw this book with gorgeous art at my library, and checked it out. It was charming, witty, poignant at times and hilarious at others. I was hooked.
Why should YOU read it: This is one of the “Big Boys” of webcomics, and once you check the site out, you will see why. The stories and the characters are deep, and even if you’re not into the video game/anime culture, you’ll enjoy the story, if only for the amazing pencil-styled art of Fred.
ESRB rating: all ages.
