Comic’s name: Rival Angels

Creators: Alan Evans, Justin Riley and The Booking Team

What is the comic about: from the site: “Rival Angels follows the story of Sabrina ‘Ultragirl’ Mancini and her three roommates in the fight of their lives as they battle against the best wrestlers in the world. As Sabrina begins her career she finds the road already full of personal and professional rivalries to contend with.”

How is comic drawn: Stylized American comic style, blend of realistic figure rendering with cartoony cell shading.

How often updated: Updates Mondays, Wednesday and Friday

What else does the website offer: Blog, forums, Artist portfolio, roster list of wrestlers, fanart gallery, Kayfabe championship charts, shopzone. Lotta stuff to play with here.

What do I think of the site’s overall design: The site has a lot of features, but everything is clear to navigate. The background graphic being of the latest comic cover is a nice touch.

What do I like about the strip:  I appreciate how the strip takes a realistic look at the ins and outs of the world of professional wrestling, especially the backstage politics along with the general conception that women’s wrestling is an inferior product. The storytelling is crisp and dead-on, and you can really get behind the characters and situations in the narrative. On top of that, the art depictions of the wrestling action are dead-on.

Why should YOU read it: This should give you a new respect for the ladies of the squared circle. Give it a shot.

ESRB rating: PG14.
