Comic’s name: Gaia

Creators: Oliver Knorzer and Powree

URL: http://www.sandraandwoo.com/gaia/

What is the comic about: A prodigal mage and his girlfriend embark on a grand adventure as his homeland prepares for war.

How is comic drawn: Classic Anime style, with all of the high fantasy trappings you would expect. Has a little bit of influence from Hayao Miyazaki, especially the coloring.

How often updated: Every Tuesday and Friday.

What else does the website offer: Cast Bios, Glossary, FAQ, blog, Pinup art, News, Links, Forum. Lots of stuff to play with here. All that’s missing is a map of the world.

What do I think of the site’s overall design: It’s actually a very practical, unspectacular site design. No frills, gets right to the point. Everything you need navigation wise is at the top, and there’s no confusion about what the site offers. Ads are kept to a minimum (only 3) and share buttons are placed within the blog. The primary attraction is the art itself, and that is displayed front and center, big and bold. It works.

What do I like about the strip:  I enjoy the webcomic Sandra & Woo, and when I found out the creators had another webcomic in the works, I had to check it out. I’m pretty impressed with Gaia. It doesn’t really break any new ground storywise, but it is a very well-crafted story with great art. You can tell the video game RPG influence early on, and there is a nice amount of built-in humor in the story. The action flows nicely and the characters are likeable. This one is a winner.

Why should YOU read it: This is a quality high fantasy epic, which is definitely worth taking a look at.

ESRB rating: All Ages.
